CoHOPE –

Creating Opportunities to Help Others Coho Menk, 22, died suddenly and unexpectedly on May 19, 2016 as a result of an epileptic seizure. Six days prior, Coho graduated from Baylor University with a degree in neuroscience. He had planned to continue studies in neuroscience and entrepreneurship in Central America via the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship awarded by the U.S. State Department.

Coho was a loyal friend, passionate athlete and gifted student. More importantly, Coho lived a life of faith, fellowship and service as a youth pastor, mentor and coach. Coho formed friendships around the world through his faith and sports experiences, particularily through soccer.

Coho nurtured life long relationships with players, coaches and individuals across the US, Haiti, Africa, Mexico, Central America and South America. These connections, and those related to his Faith, enabled Coho to spread joy and compassion with gifts of service, friendship, sporting goods and supplies in the US and Internationally.

Coho demonstrated through athletics and service how fair play and teamwork build bridges of cooperation, acceptance, friendship, tolerance and love that spanned cultures, faiths, and races. The spirit of Coho inspired the creation of CoHOPE, combining Coho’s name with the Hope and promise of his brief, but full life, the international friendships he formed, and the selfless ways he served others.
